Troubleshooting Your iPad Calendar/Inbox and Your Exchange Account
Here are three email and calendar issues I’ve gotten lately.
- Why don’t I see all of my emails on my iPad?
- Why does the email I send from my iPad go out under my gmail account and not my AS account?
- Why do appointments I make on my iPad not show up on my computer?
All of these questions can be addressed by checking your Mail, Contacts, Calendars settings.
Tap the Settings icon on your iPad. Then tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Question 1: On the right, under the list of accounts that you’ve set up, you’ll see a series of settings for Mail. To increase the number of emails that show up in your iPad inbox, tap Show. You can show up to 1,000 recent messages.
Question 2: The last setting under Mail is your Default Account. Assuming that you want the email on your iPad to be sent out under your AS account, be sure that you’ve selected your AS account as the default.
Bonus tip: If you’d like to have something other than “Sent from my iPad” appear at the bottom of your emails, you can create an email signature under Signature in the Mail settings.
Question 3: Still in the Mail, Contacts, and Calendars menu, scroll down past the Contacts settings to get to the Calendar settings. The last setting under Calendars is where you can select your default calendar. Tap on Default Calendar to see which calendars are available to you. Again, you’ll likely want to make sure that your AS Exchange calendar is your default, so that any appointments you make on your iPad show up on your Exchange calendar. If you have many possible Exchange calendars to choose from, select the calendar that is highlighted by the purple dot (and not the purple-dotted calendar that indicates it is a backup, if you have such a thing). You can also select here how far back you’d like your calendar to show appointments.
If All Else Fails: If your iPad is still not syncing as you’d like, go into Settings, and Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and delete your Exchange account–really delete it, don’t just retype the information in the fields–then set up the Exchange account again. [Use your AS email and password. Domain is “asnet” and server is “webmail.ua.edu” without the quotation marks, naturally.]
And, as always, if our “If All Else Fails” solution fails, be sure to call or email us and we’ll be happy to help you.
