How to Access Email on Your iPad

February 24th, 2011

I’m reposting this excerpt from our iPad guide for those new to the College who need to set up their iPad.

In Mail, you can have multiple email accounts appear in a single inbox. Here are instructions for setting up your AS and personal email accounts. If you do not have an AS email account, eTech can help you get one. If you do not use your AS account, you will have to access webmail through Safari.

Setting up your AS account on the iPad

1. Tap the Settings icon.

2. Select “Mail, Contacts, Calendars” located on the left side of the screen.

3. Under the Accounts heading, tap the “Add Account…” option.

4. Select Microsoft Exchange.

5. Enter your full AS email address in the Email field.

6. Enter asnet in the Domain field.

7. Enter your AS username in the Username field.

8. Enter your AS password in the Password field.

9. Enter a descriptive name for the email account in the Description field.

10. Tap the Next button.

11. Verify that the server address webmail.ua.edu appears.

12. Tap the Next button.

13. Select the Save button.

14. Make sure that Contacts, Calendar, Mail are all set to the ON position. If they are not, touch the word OFF once to turn the option on.

15. You have successfully set up your email. To access your AS mail, tap the Mail icon on the home screen.

Setting up your personal email account on the iPad

1. Tap the Settings icon.

2. Select “Mail, Contacts, Calendars.”

3. Tap the “Add Account…” option, then tap Google, Yahoo!, or AOL.

4. Enter your name, email address, password, and a description.

5. Tap the items you want to use on the iPad, which may include calendar and contacts. Availability of items depends on the service provider.

Now you can access your email on the iPad through the Mail icon.
